Course Arrangement

DICE offers international and comparative education courses at three levels: the undergraduate, Master's, and doctoral levels. Thus, it has tried to cultivate a continuity of academic training from the basic to the highest level. Over all, courses in DICE have the following key components:

•  Foreign Languages Learning
Advanced academic English courses (4 semesters) allow students to better their proficiencies in English. In addition, each student is offered two years of solid trainings on another foreign language (chosen from Japanese, French, German, and Spanish) to ensure our students’ competitiveness in the global job market.

• Cultural and Educational Issues around the Globe
Courses such as Culture and Education in the United Kingdom [and other major countries], Multicultural Education, Cultural Anthropology, Education Administration, and gender education offer advanced and in-depth training to help students understand the current issues and recent developments in the field of international and comparative education as well as the educational situations and issues of major countries around the globe.

• The Theoretical, Historical and Philosophical underpinning of International  and Comparative Education
These courses provide training to help students grasp the fundamental knowledge and skills in the field of comparative education. For example: Introduction to Educational Studies, Introduction to Culture, Introduction to Comparative Education, Theories of Comparative Education, Philosophy of Education, Educational Psychology, Sociology of Education, and Educational Anthodology.

• Research Ability Advancement
Courses such as Research Methodologies in Social Sciences, Educational Statistics, Quantitative Research Methods, and Qualitative Research Methods attempt to enhance students’ research ability. Students are encouraged to apply for research grants from the Ministry of Science and Technology and conduct their research projects.
